Urban Native is a place for locals, weekenders, couch surfers, and tourists to experience a unique San Francisco.

We believe in good music and weekday libations. We’re trendsetters, adventure seekers, and lovers of food. Our curiosity sometimes gets us in trouble, but mostly we just love this 7×7 plot of land and can’t wait to share it with you!

What is the quintessential San Francisco experience?

There are many, depending on who you are and what you like to do. But if you think Fisherman’s Wharf and a tour by a yellow (deathtrap) go-cart makes for an ideal day in the city, then this site may not be for you.

Is this site just for locals then?

Definitely not! We love tourists and want them to have a memorable time in our city. For us, this means offering ideas that are not necessarily in tour books or promoted by a hotel’s concierge.

What’s the benefit for a local?

One of the best things about San Francisco is the variety of neighborhoods. There is a neighborhood that satisfies virtually all quirks and fetishes; but we’ve found that many locals have formed strong opinions about the type of people that live in each one.

We wanted to create a place where a Marina girl can check out what Mission hipsters like to do (from the safety of her living room), while a techie can search networking hotspots. By drawing attention to the city’s stereotypes, we hope to help break them and create a more unified San Francisco.

Want to contribute?

Whether you have a passion for food, music, fashion, or simply love San Francisco, we want you! All the details can be found under the Contribute tab.

Want to advertise?

While we don’t offer conventional advertising; we are seeking local businesses to feature. If you’d like us to write about your company, email us at
